Leesburg Regional Medical Center (LRMC), located in beautiful Lake County, Fla., just 40 miles northwest of Orlando, is now known as a regional medical center specializing in selected tertiary services, such as open heart surgery with neurosurgery having been added in the fall of 2001. Although LRMC has grown as the area has grown, there still remains that friendly family feeling.
The Villages Regional Hospital (TVRH), located in The Villages, Florida, recently completed a $65 million expansion that tripled the number of beds from 60 to 198, added three more floors to the hospital, and resulted in an expansion of cardiac services from LRMC to create The Villages' first, hospital-based cardiac catheterization suites. Physicians on both medical staffs, representing more than 30 specialties, have used their own unique talents and expertise to raise the level of excellence of many of our programs. The hospital provides comprehensive medical services with 198 medical and surgical beds, a twelve-bed intensive care unit, state-of-the-art surgical suites, a radiology department featuring filmless computer imaging, pharmacy, clinical laboratory and a full service emergency department.
Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital are building healthcare excellence in our community, winning national acclaim for the quality of our care, facilities and people. LRMC has been named Florida's only "Hospital of Choice", and along with The Villages Regional Hospital, was named the #1 Company for Working Families in Central Florida by Sentinel Communications for the past two years. The two hospitals were also named 4th in the Nation by AARP's "Best Employers for Workers 50 & Over" and the Nation's Only Hospital System to receive "BreakThrough Award" for Workers Over 50 by Civic Ventures/MetLife Foundation.
LRMC's open heart program is ranked 2nd in the state in volumes, according to the Agency for Health Care Administration. TVRH was recently Florida's only 100 Top Hospital-Benchmarks for Success by Solucient, and was named a 2006 CareScience Select Practice National Quality Leader Hospital, designated in the top 1% of hospitals nationwide for excellence in quality and efficiency. VHA Inc., a national health care alliance, also recognized the hospital with a 2007 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence, honoring the hospital for meeting or exceeding national performance standards for clinical care.
