IS Senior Systems Analyst - Albany Medical Center
Albany Medical Center (AMC) is currently seeking applicants for an Information Services Senior Systems Analyst position. This dynamic position will report to the Director of Clinical Systems. The position will be responsible for the design and execution of clinical workflow analysis initiatives throughout AMC.
The successful candidate will be able to perform structured workflow analysis, benefits identification and realization, and supporting work measurement. The results of these efforts will be integral to the design and implementation of a planned series of major automation efforts throughout AMC. In addition, these efforts will help define and quantify both expected and actual process and dollar benefits derived from automation initiatives. The candidate will be a key contributor on project teams supporting implementation and workflow/data integration for such key systems as clinical documentation, computerized order entry, patient management and billing systems.
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in industrial or systems engineering, statistics or related fields. Additional, formal, on-the-job training leading to certification in systems analysis, process improvement and/or work measurement is preferred. Strong experience over a period of 3-5 years with workflow analysis/re-design in the healthcare setting and second generation work measurement is required. Candidates should have the ability to handle large, complex projects and have knowledge of program management tools and system development life cycle methodologies.

Albany Medical Center is actively engaged in transforming its enterprise through deployment of next generation clinical and patient management systems. Siemens Soarian's repository has been implemented to provide clinical assess to patient records, populated by data generated from areas such as laboratory pathology, radiology, endoscopy and cardiology. Medical images and transcribed dictations are similarly available to clinical staff. Computerized order entry and clinical documentation initiatives are scheduled to go into production in Q-2 of 2008.
The environment is complex as it is moving from a "best of breed" approach to a "best of family" approach. As in most healthcare environments, a number of niche solutions have been integrated into the overall automation design.
Enterprise PACS using Philips Stentor iSite is live.
Cerner Bridge medication administration bar coding is currently in production.
Pharmacy function is highly automated and integrates robotics and bar code uses to assist in filling medication orders and managing inventory.
The long range, board supported, automation plan includes continued systems delivery for the foreseeable future.

This position reports to the Director of Clinical Systems, who reports to the Sr. VP/CIO.

This individual needs to be both thoughtful and proactive. They need to be capable of quickly assessing the current environment and assist in identifying where and how process improvement and work measurement will benefit existing and future initiatives.
Although a clinical background is not required, this individual needs to be able to apply form process analysis and work measurement techniques to allow them to identify improvements and determine differentiate between 'theoretical' and "real world" improvements that can be made in this environment while maintaining high levels of patient safety and regulatory compliance.
This individual should have performed and be able to demonstrate strong experience in process improvement and work measurement over the past 3-5 years.
Salary Range
$65,000 - $85,000
No bonus

$7,500 as move reimbursement without flexibility
